  • RS 85

Extendable Desktop Reader Sorter
RS40
  • Ideal for operations centers/regional clusters
  • Unique engineering and robust build
  • Maximum reliability against double feeds and jams
  • Up to 24 pockets capacity

The Seac Banche RS 40 capitalises on the superior quality of the SB 4000 range of back-office scanners, increasing the autofeeder capacity and providing pocket expansion in modules of six, each with the same footprint as the base unit.

This new desktop reader sorter is equipped as standard with an Ultrasound doubles detector, ensuring maximum protection. The sorting modules allow configurations up to 24 pockets, uniquely designed to make them virtually jam-proof, and communicate with one another and with the base unit using no cables, via infrared light.

Depending upon processing requirements and document size, the device can achieve throughput rates of 200 documents per minute and above.

With a daily processing capacity of 10,000 to 20,000 documents, the RS 40 is ideal for cheque processing in regional clusters and clearing houses, as well as remittance and non-cheque applications (lottery tickets, gift coupons, meal vouchers etc.).

Features

AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT FEEDER
The autofeeder can hold up to 500 standard documents, and allows refilling without interrupting processing.
To ensure that only one document enters the paper path at a time, the unit is equipped with a totally reliable Adaptive Ultrasound double feed sensor, located immediately after the feeder.

CODELINE READING: MICR AND OCR
The unit’s MICR reading functionality decodes both CMC7 and E13B magnetic codelines. Reliability of the system is based on the experience of thousands of Seac Banche codeline readers installed worldwide.

The proprietary onboard decoding system for OCR documents (optional) can read OCR-A, OCR-B and E13B codelines and mixed font OCR-B X E13B (UK Bank Giro), with outstanding accuracy and reliability. The OCR system can also be used for barcode reading.

IMAGE PROCESSING
The RS 40 uses the same advanced imaging technology that has defined the success of the Seac Banche RDS 3000 and SB 4000. Images captured by the RS 40 are perfectly clear and sharply defined. At standard speed (433 mm/sec), the system allows for up to three separate images of a document to be captured in a single pass. Images are scanned under program control and can be used to provide input to OCR/ICR character recognition systems, allowing for the acquisition of reliable and accurate data, or displayed for visual verification or manual key entry, as well as stored for archive and retrieval.

Resolution can be selected via application software, independently for front and rear images – 200 x 200 dpi or 100 x 100 dpi, 256 shades of grey, green or red light source (the latter showing red dropout images).

An enhanced version – the RS 41 - captures front and rear images in outstanding full colour, without losing the ability to capture greyscale images.
The images can be compressed by DLL functions in several formats, according to user needs.

VOIDING AND ENDORSING
The programmable inkjet endorser can print a variable string of data on the rear side of the document, up to full document width. The optional roll-on stamp can be factory installed to stamp either the front or rear of documents: the pad can be personalised by the user, and it is automatically inked before each stamping action by an inking roller.

Voiding and endorsing are controlled by the application.

POCKETS
The RS 40 includes a sorting module of six pockets, individually adjustable in length, distinctively designed to prevent paper jams and equipped with pocket-full sensors. Each pocket has a capacity of about 200 documents.

Additional modules can increase the configuration up to 12, 18 or 24 pockets with no need for extra cables, thanks to infrared communication.

The sorting criteria are set by the application.

  • Voiding and endorsing options
  • Extendable up to 48 pockets

The heavy-duty Seac Banche RS 85 reader sorter is designed to handle daily workloads of several thousand documents.

The system is simple to use, robust, easy to access and to service and very versatile: conceived as a check processor for banking and remittance applications, it is equally at home in any application that can benefit from codeline reading, stamping, endorsing, encoding, imaging and sorting.

The user-friendliness of the RS 85 is enhanced by the special 2-line display - invaluable particularly when the sorter is used "off-line" - and the pocket-full LED indicators. The capacity of the basic unit can be extended by adding up to five 8-pocket sorting modules.

Depending upon processing requirements and document size the RS 85 can achieve throughput rates of up to 100 documents per minute at low speed and 200 at high speed.

Features

AUTOMATIC DOCUMENT FEEDER
The document autofeeder can hold up to 1000 standard documents. To ensure that only one document enters the paper path at a time, the double feeding control (transparency check) works with two photosensors at different heights, located immediately after the feeder.

CODELINE READING: MICR AND OCR
The reader-sorter’s MICR reading functionality decodes both CMC7 and E13B magnetic codelines. Reliability of the system is based on the experience of thousands of Seac Banche codeline readers installed worldwide.

The decoding system for OCR documents (optional) can read OCR-A, OCR-B and E13B codelines, as well as the most commonly used barcode fonts, with outstanding accuracy and reliability. Up to two OCR read heads, or one OCR head & one barcode-only head, can be installed on the RS 85, allowing to read optical codelines printed at different heights. All optical heads are height-adjustable with a knob & see-through LED system.

HOLD&VIEW STATION
Following codeline reading, the documents may be centrally stopped in the hold&view station for visual verification or manual key entry.

VOIDING AND ENDORSING
The programmable inkjet endorser can print a variable string of data on the rear side of the document, up to full document width. The roll-on front and rear stamps are automatically inked before each stamping action by an inking roller; the stamp pads can be personalised by the user.

Voiding and endorsing are both optional features, controlled by the application.

ENCODING
Documents may be encoded with an optional MICR (E13B only) or OCR dot-matrix printing system. Changing the ribbon cartridge is easy and quick.

IMAGE PROCESSING
Images captured by the RS85 are perfectly clear and sharply defined. The system allows for front & rear images of a document to be captured in a sigle pass, at high or low speed.
Full images or snippets are scanned under program control, compressed on board in JPEG or TIFF formats and transferred to the host to be used to provide input to OCR/ICR character recognition system, or displayed for visual verification or manual key entry, as well as stored for archive and retrieval.

Resolution can be selected via application software, independently for front and rear images – 200 x 200 dpi or 100 x 100 dpi, 256 shades of grey or B/W, green or red light source (the latter showing red dropout images).

POCKETS
The RS 85 is equipped with eight sorting pockets (7 standard + 1 reject pocket before image capture): the pockets have a capacity of about 250 documents each, they are motorised to prevent paper jams, equipped with pocket-full sensors & warning LEDs and length-adjustable in three positions.

The RS 85's sorting capabilities may be extended by adding to the basic unit one, two or - with a modification on the base unit - up to five 8-pocket modules, for a total capacity up to 48 pockets.

The sorting criteria are set by the application.
