Plasmon has more than two decades of expertise in the research, development and manufacture of optical storage technologies. This philosophy is fundamental to all Plasmon products, including support for current and past generations of optical media. Plasmon offers a multiple generation optical media product line that includes 5.25 inch UDO and MO, 120mm DVD and 12 inch media.

5.25 inch UDO and MO
UDO is the latest generation of the popular 5.25 inch, ISO standard optical media format. Installed with thousands of corporations and government agencies worldwide, UDO blue laser technology provides a 30GB or 60GB capacity in Rewritable and Write Once formats. Plasmon's G-Series optical libraries support both UDO and previous generation 5.25 inch MO optical media. This backward compatible strategy allows customers to maintain full access to older MO based archives while using UDO for current demands. Plasmon offers a complete line of Rewritable and WORM optical media ranging from 30GB or 60GB UDO to MO media in 650MB through 9.1GB formats.

120mm DVD
While the 120mm CD/DVD media format is very common in consumer products, Plasmon's focus with this technology is on professional data storage applications. The pervasiveness and acceptance of DVD technology makes it an ideal choice for a centralized data archive that benefits from remote data collection or the physical distribution of content. Unlike UDO media that is housed in rugged cartridge, DVD is a "bare" media that requires unique handling and quality considerations. Plasmon offers only the highest quality DVD media designed for the demands of data storage. When used in combination with Plasmon D-Series DVD libraries, DVD technology provides a flexible archive solution.

12 inch
12 inch media has been the historic archival storage backbone for many enterprise content management applications across a wide range of industries. While 12 inch technology has been superseded by higher performance, more cost effective, 5.25 inch formats, hundreds of organizations continue to use their robust 12 inch media. Plasmon provides multiple generation support for 12 inch technology starting from 2GB media originally launched in 1987 through the final generation of 30GB media released in 2000.
