Great news for optical storage users -- Plasmon can help you upgrade end-of-life storage technology with the safest, most compliant and cost-effective technology available.

If you or your customers are currently using older optical solutions, such as Magneto Optical (MO) or 12 inch WORM, then you know these technologies have reached the end of the road. The good news is that you can now upgrade them to next generation WORM UDO (Ultra Density Optical) technology at great discounts, providing customers with technology advancements and compliant data storage for decades to come.

"UDO represents a significant advance in optical drive and media technology for developers of archival and data storage solutions. Its introduction is extremely well timed, as international regulatory compliance requirements focus on permanent, long term storage and access of critical data."

"The use of WORM optical technology is an essential feature of our data archive as we want to be sure of the authenticity of our records. We decided not to use a hard disk based archive because it is are writable technology and simply cannot offer the same level of data integrity as UDO."

BACKUP Vs ARCHIVE (what, when, were, why)

In the world of Data Storage, the terms are often used interchangeably, but there are more subtle differences between the two processes. Backup creates an exact copy of a document to be held in reserve should something happen to the original. Archiving applies to data that is more likely to be needed again, and enables speedy, intelligent searches. (Attorneys and those hourly fees, you know).

Zip past the part where the tape vendor touts tape for such applications and RAID vendors do the same for disk arrays. Then zero in on what pieces of backup and archiving you can automate, make more efficient, perform in off-hours and avoid needless replication of data that is mostly unchanged from day to day (AKA Static Content).

This is not ILM (Information Lifecycle Management)
